Skin cancer treatment doctor keeps babies safe

Skin cancer treatment specialist wants to ensure that you are keeping your baby safe during the hot summer months

Skin cancer treatmentSkin cancer treatment doctor has some tips and tricks for keeping your baby safe from the sun’s dangerous rays. Many babies are born during the summer, and if you plan on taking them outside, then you need to know how to keep them protected. Babies are especially at risk for sun damage since their skin hardly has any melanin in it. This means that since their skin offers little to no protection from the sun, it’s better to use a physical sun shield than to use sunscreen. We’re going to go over some ways to keep your baby protected from the sun, so that you can rest-assured that you’re not putting your baby in harm’s way.

For infants

Skin cancer treatment specialists suggest using a variety of different sun-shielding products to keep your newborn safe. Sun shields that can be attached to your stroller can block out some of the sun’s rays. Even though most strollers have a built-in overhang, this typically doesn’t keep out all of the sunlight that a stroller shield can. Blankets that have UV-protection built into them is another great way to keep your baby safe when they are in a stroller, or otherwise outside. For the car, purchase a transparent filtering film that blocks out UVB and UVA rays. These do not limit the driver’s visibility, but they do block these dangerous rays from reaching the baby. You can also purchase canopies for car seats that do the same thing.

For older babies

When a baby is over the age of 6 months, skin cancer treatment doctors recommend using sunscreen on them. There are many sunscreens available on the market that are made especially for babies, which means they have a formula that is gentle. Sunglasses are another great way to help protect your baby from the sun. Sunglasses keep the eyes protected, and they also shade the skin surrounding the eyes. Finally, buying a beach tent can make beach time more safe, and fun. Beach tents typically pop-up so the assembly is a breeze, and they are great at keeping your baby out of the sun.
