Skin care habits that can lead to a clear complexion

Skin care through good habits

Dry skin care

Skin care regimens should be consistent. Consistency helps us discover what the factor is, whenever we encounter a problem. Using diet as an example, if you eat generally the same foods for several month with no remarkable skin issues, and you decide to try a food that you haven’t eaten in quite a while, if your skin suddenly breaks out or becomes dull, chances are that the factor is the sudden change in dietary habits. Sometimes it takes a lot of experimentation (maybe years’ worth) to get your skin where you want it, your regimen has become a series of good habits and products. The goal here is to encourage you to form good skin care habits. Your skin and your dermatologist will thank you.Consider the following habits that can help lead you to healthier skin:

  1. Avoid harsh detergents and irritants

It is counter-productive to avoid harsh soaps and cleansers on your skin, and then clean your sheets and clothing with harsh laundry soaps and fabric softeners. It is important to wash linens and clothing with the fragrant free and dye clear detergents. To avoid static cling, instead of fabric sheets, make two or three aluminum balls (each about the size of a ping-pong ball) throw them in the dryer with the laundry and static cling will be eliminated. If you want to reduce static cling on clothes you are wearing, simply apply a moisturizer or lotion to your skin where your clothes seem to be clinging. To soften clothing and linens, add vinegar to the rinse cycle of your wash.

  • Moisturize whileyour skin is damp

We cannot stress how important it is to apply your moisturizer when your skin is damp. Making this a regular habit can be a “game-changer,” when it comes to softer, moisturized skin. To make it a habit, consider posting a sign on the closed bathroom door that says, “Do not open until damp skin has been moisturized.”

  • Change your pillowcases every couple of days

Persons who suffer with severe acne should change your pillow case every night when you are experiencing breakouts. During those times when your acne is under control, you can just flip your pillow over to the opposite side the next night and change pillow cases every two days.

  • Clean your cell phone often

Everyone’s cell phone is a petri dish for every kind of dirt and bacteria known to mankind. Keep a cleaning cloth and eye glasscleaning spray close by to clean the surfaces on your phone at least 3 times a day. Whenever possible, use your speaker, or use ear buds. The goal is to keep your phone clean and to keep your phone away from your face.

  • Skin care check up with a dermatologist

You will quickly learn (without a lot of trial and error) which steps in your regimenare too harsh or are not helping at all.
