Microneedling Can Make you Look Younger

March 28th, 2025 | By: Admin

About microneedling

The thought of thousands of tiny needles pricking at your skin would make most people cringe. However, microneedling is a now popular and effective anti-aging treatment. And, when administered properly by a dermatologist, discomfort can be minimized and results maximized.

The practice of microneedling creates microscopic wounds on the surface of your skin. This causes your body to deploy a healing response, stimulating collagen and elastin production. As a result, you may see your skin appear fresher, younger, and smoother. Regular microneedling treatments can help you maintain these benefits.

Issues microneedling helps with

Microneedling has been used to address a whole host of cosmetic issues. Patients have reported that microneedling treatments have helped with:

  • Reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Restoring a “dewy” or “glowing” appearance to the skin
  • Making acne scars and other imperfections less noticeable
  • Reducing or eliminating blotchiness and discoloration

With such a long list of benefits, it is no wonder that microneedling is so popular. But do you know what to expect from this treatment?

What to expect when you get microneedling

Microneedling can be performed right in your dermatologist’s office. Before your treatment, the technician might recommend an over the counter pain killer or use a numbing cream to make your experience more comfortable.

During treatment, the technician will use a tool or a roller that is coated in very fine, very short needles. He or she will pass the instrument over your face, paying special attention to areas of concern. Each treatment may take about 30-60 minutes. It is usually recommended to have a course of treatment, with each session several weeks apart, in order to get the best possible results.

After your session, you may experience a little redness or swelling in the area that was treated. This usually subsides within a day or so, but it could last up to a week depending on how aggressive the treatment was and the sensitivity of your skin.

Microneedling can have excellent anti-aging benefits, but only when it is administered appropriately and professionally. For the best results, you should consider having your microneedling done by the experts at an experienced and trained dermatology practice. In the greater Charlotte, NC area, consider making an appointment with the team at Metrolina Dermatology to learn more about microneedling and how it can work for you. The dermatologists at Metrolina Dermatology can help you with this and other anti-aging treatments. South Charlotte dermatologist and Fellowship trained Mohs surgeon Dr. Haberle and her team are known as experts in all fields of dermatology, including cosmetic, medical, and surgical skin care.
