Enlarged Pores

Enlarged pores are depressions in the skin’s surface caused by oily skin, aging and sun damage that impact the skin's appearance.

What is it?

Though not a health risk, enlarged pores are primarily a cosmetic issue affecting the skin's appearance. Various factors may lead to the formation of enlarged pores, such as:

  • Decreased elasticity around the pores
  • Increased hair follicle volume
  • Genetic predisposition/hereditary factors
  • Overactive oil secretion
  • Advancing age
  • Damage from overexposure to ultraviolet light, such as the sun and tanning beds
  • Skin type
  • Persistent acne
  • Hormonal fluctuations
  • Absence of an effective skincare routine

How is it treated?

We understand your desire to look and feel your best. After all, your face is typically the first thing people see when they look at you, and we also understand that you want to look back confidently!

Our board-certified dermatologists will craft a treatment strategy, which may include laser resurfacing, microneedling or dermabrasion. Schedule an appointment with one of our skin care specialists in Charlotte, North Carolina, and we’ll work to eliminate the appearance of these pores so you can confidently face your day.
